When Reggie Miller was lighting up threes, the team always posed a challenge for their opponents.

That has since changed.

In more recent years the Pacers have been amongst the league’s doormats.

This year’s team is helping to turn things around.

The Miami Heat and OKC Thunder are the two teams left standing, battling it out for 2012 season championship.

Perhaps next year will end better for the Grizzlies.

Instead of posting a losing record and missing the playoffs, the team not only made the playoffs, they won a series, playing their way into the second round.

The fans are once again excited in Philly.

A one-time basketball town can once again hold its head high.

While they didn’t quite live up to the hype this season, they have emerged as an extremely exciting basketball team with a huge upside.

One of the primary reasons for all the good feelings surrounding the Clippers is Chris Paul, a supremely talented point guard.

He has the quicks, the ball handling ability and on-court savvy that elevates his team.

He can create shots for both himself and his teammates which makes him fun to watch and play alongside.

Look for the Clippers to eclipse the Lakers in the next few years.

Iguodala is the 76ers latest superstar, a role that has been vacant since super speedy guard, Allen Iverson, tore up the courts for more than a decade.

An All-Star player, Iguodala has the city excited about basketball again, leading them to a playoff series win this year.

Both locals and NBA fans alike have long written off the 76ers.

It looks like that is slowly but surely changing.

The 76ers certainly looked like the real deal this year and Iguodala was certainly a big reason for that.

As a Chicago Bulls fan, however, another piece of news caught my ear — a recent report that things are going well for Derrick Rose and his recovery from surgery to repair his ACL.

Teammate Taj Gibson said in part,

“I think he’s improving quicker than people have expected him to improve.”

That’s what I like to hear — the sooner that he can get back to being one of the best point guards in the league, the better.

Because the recovery timeframe is expected to be up to 12 months, Rose could theoretically be out all of next year.

That’s why there have been some interesting rumors that the Bulls may pursue all-star caliber point guards such as Steve Nash and Jason Kidd to run the team from the point in Rose’s absence. Those will be some interesting developments to follow this offseason.

Lots of people around the country were watching, as evidenced by estimates that the audience was the largest ever for a cable network during the NBA playoffs. TV coverage moves to ABC for all the Finals games.

For the Heat, it’s on to Oklahoma City starting on Tuesday for game 1, and they’ll meet a well-rested Thunder team that is extremely exciting to watch.

It will be fun to check out the match-ups going into the series. Who will be guarding 3-time scoring champ Kevin Durant? Who will the Thunder put on James and Wade?

It will be a fun Finals to watch!

Both series started out with the home team defending their court in the first two games, and many pundits predicting that the Spurs and Heat would easily move on to face each other in the NBA finals.

How quickly things change.

After a few days of great basketball watching (with my favorite being Kevin Durant’s 16 point burst in the 4th quarter, video below) both series are knotted up at 2-2, and it has essentially come down to a 3 game series: whichever team can win 2 out of the next three games will move on the finals.

Can the Spur and Heat hold their home court? We’ll find out starting tonight, when the Spurs face the Thunder again for what is sure to be an exciting game.

Eastern Conference

The Celtics are in a 2-0 hole against the Miami Heat. Quite frankly, the Celtics are looking old, and the Heat are being powered by Lebron James and Dwayne Wade. I never want to rule out the heart of the Celtics, but sometimes their aging bodies cooperate. Game 3 is tonight in Boston, and I’m pulling for the Celtics.

Western Conference

The Spurs are up 2-1 over the Oklahoma City Thunder. I still hold out some hope that the Thunder can take this series, after two close games in San Antonio, and then a 20 point drubbing of the Spurs last night. Congratulations to the Spurs for an unbelievable 20 game winning streak coming to an end last night — they’ve defied the critics and expert predictions with that incredible streak, with their stars that aren’t getting any younger.

He is always thriving to become a better player.

This is one reason why his fans love to watch him play and are interested in what he does and says both on and off the court.

In this video, Deron Williams talks about some of his goals for the off season.

Off season is where players improve their games, shoring up on their weaknesses and improving their strengths.

Not that Deron Williams has a lot to shore up but it’s good that he’s always seeking to get better.
