Kobe Bryant to Play in Italy?

As NBA lockout talks continue to move at a snail’s pace, there are reports out that Kobe Bryant has verbally agreed to play in Italy during the lockout.

Per CNNSI:

“A person with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press on Friday that the sides have settled on a $3 million contract for the opening 40 days of the Italian league season.”

As many people know, Kobe grew up in Italy, where he learned his way around basketball nets because his dad was a basketball coach.

Kobe reportedly still speaks passable Italian, and is said to have loved his time growing up in the country.

Laker fans need not worry too much — the contract with Italian club Virtus Bologna is believed to be cancellable at any time, should the NBA lockout be ended.

However, Kobe’s aging body, and his increased propensity for injuries in recent years, may be another concern for Lakers fans…..
